Wedding Trends For 2019
In addition to playing wedding piano for ceremonies and as background music during the day, I also run a music agency - www.talldogmusic.com
For the daytime we offer harpists, string quartets, jazz bands, solo guitarists, wedding choirs, and more for the ceremony and daytime as well as party bands and DJs for the evening.
Quite often I am asked by couples looking for live music what the current 'trends' are. Ultimately my answer is that whilst it is good to be aware of current trends, ultimately you should choose the band or musician that best reflects the music you both love.
However as a general rule, here are a couple of options that seem to have grown in popularity late this year and for 2019 bookings so far...
One of the most prominent trends at the moment is to have a wedding DJ with a saxophonist, or trumpeter. This is a clever option for a couple of reasons. Firstly you get the added excitement of live music but without having to have find the budget that a full band might cost.
Also, our saxophonists can play over any style of music of your choice. If you let us know the sort of music you love, we partner you with the Tall Dog Music DJ of your choice and make sure you are hearing saxaphone enhancing the tunes you both love.
Wedding Party Band Trends of 2019
The other slight shift we are noticing this year is couples looking for something slightly different than a standard cover band. Don't get us wrong, a covers band performing at a high standard is always a fantastic addition to any wedding, however couples sometimes feel that this can be overdone, especially if they are getting married the same year as lots of their friends for example and ask us what we can offer to shake things up a little.
One very popular option seems to be Davey & The Jive Rockets.
They are a 50's rock 'n' roll band that play the music that people of all ages instantly know and love. That step back in time allows you to even create a themed wedding if you wish. Allowing guests to dress in 50's clothing and create a truly memorable night, refreshingly different!
Another option that is popular is a Ceilidh Band
The Hertfordshire Wedding Ceilidh Band are past masters at making sure the infectious music gets everyone up and dancing. The band even have dance tutors on hand to teach you and your guests the basic steps to get everyone up. The inclusive atmosphere the band creates make them incredibly popular wherever they play
These are just a couple of options as some initial inspiration. We try and work to all briefs so if you have something in mind, let us know! Tall Dog Music would love to be part of your celebrations if we can.
Thanks!
