Ceremony Choices

I get asked a lot from couples who have booked me to play piano for their wedding ceremony, about what music would be 'suitable'.

The short answer is - any.

It is your day and so many couples assume it can only be classical music that would be capable of adding any sense of grandeur to the proceedings, but I can honestly say having played pop, soul, R'n'B, Indie and many other styles of tunes during wedding ceremonies over the years, that they all have been just as effective as classical music and work just as perfectly for when the big moment arrives.

When it comes to ceremony music, what does matter is that you choose music you love, and in my opinion, that you both know. The latter is particularly important for me.

If a tune means something between you, or you've always loved a particular artist then pick something by them! The music you love is part of you. I believe every part of your wedding day should be personable to you; picking ceremony music that you have never heard of means that you're friends and family aren't getting the real 'you' as you both make your vows in front of all your family and friends. If you've Googled 'popular wedding ceremony music' or similar, it also means that thousands of others will be playing the same music too. So chances are a lot of guests would have heard the same music several times before. Yawn!

Be individual. Be personable. Be you!

Your friends and family will love you both all the more for it.

I am the piano player listed below, but our Hertfordshire based music agency www.talldogmusic.com offers loads of other ceremony music options. You can see them all below.
