Often in friendship groups, there seems to be a wave of weddings - you have none between you for years and then suddenly there are perhaps five or six all in one summer. And the couple who are having the fifth or sixth wedding out of their friends that year often are worried that the enthusiasm for their day will have diminished amongst the group and are wondering what they can do to make their day feel individual and most importantly, still fresh.

On one hand it is a shame that they have this additional concern that was not a consideration for those that went first out the group, but on the other hand it can be a massive advantage. You are in fact the lucky ones - you have now unwittingly become wedding experts, simply by being frequent guests at others and have seen all that has worked and all that hasn't. You can take ideas from the bits that have made nice touches and whilst best not to copy them exactly, certainly use them for inspiration, and discard all that hasn't.

The other good news? - any true friend who has got married just before you, it appears to me, will often be even more invested in your day than if they hadn't - because it will still be very fresh in their minds how much their day meant to them, and will want to make sure that you have the special day you deserve too, eager to do even more thoughtful things for you than perhaps they might have done normally.

So! If you have a few weddings coming up before yours this year, have fun at them all, quietly observe, and look forward to your own too! Yours should in theory, be the best!
